As you know I LOVE fashion photography and recently partnered up with Allison Prenger of The Style Pundit, introduced here. So, I have decided, what better way to share my love for fashion photography, then to do a monthly fashion photography blog. This will be a great resource to help people(YOU) with their fashion needs. Whether you just enjoy looking at fashion pictures (like I do), you need inspiration, or you have fashion questions, this is the place to be…and ask (seriously, please feel free to ask). Allison is not only is a fashion expert, but a stylist, and will be very involved in promoting the present styles and fashion forward clothing.
Trend vs. Staple
Style, is one-part staying current on fashion, and one-part being conscious of what you purchase and how you build your closet. This look is the epitome of this style theory. As all of us fashion followers are aware, animal print is haute, haute, HOT, this season. That being said, invest in a pair of pants that are the animal print of your choice. Here Allison is wearing a Current/Elliot pair, but we also recommend these snake print ones, or this frugal find. That being the fashion or trend part, let’s focus on the sweater and heels. There are two important aspects to this part of the look.
1. They are staple investments that, when asked, Allison said she has had these since 2008, and still wears them every spring.
A grey sweater and pastel pumps, will NEVER go out of style. Take the Style Pundit’s advice and go invest in these staple items!
2. They are great transitional pieces for spring.
We don’t know what part of the country you live in, but in GA the temperature can vary. Wearing a great sweater in a lighter hue, paired with pastel pumps says “I am warm, but I realize it’s not the dead of winter anymore.”

For March I’m trying to build my Facebook fan page and decided, what better way to do it than giving things away. Everyone likes free stuff, right?! I did a couples session recently, for a client, and she brought me cupcakes (made my day). As you know I LOVE cupcakes and so, I have just raved about that freebie to any and everyone who would listen for at least a good month now. So here is the deal…
Post a picture of your favorite accessory (scarves, boots, rings, crazy socks, ties, earrings, etc..). At the end of March I’ll count up the person who received the most comments or likes on the image they posted, and will treat them to a crazy model shoot (FOR FREE), with yours truly and will be styled by Allison Prenger @ The Style Pundit . They will also get pictures to share on Facebook. Heck, what girl doesn’t want a model shoot dedicated completely to themselves! I have gotten addicted to Pinterest, which is a great way to be inspired AND find some cool new ideas and accessories. Valentine’s Day to me, is another day to celebrate my love for my Honey-Guy (aka-husband Shawn). Shawn and I have been married now, for over nineteen years and counting. Every day together seems better than the day before. Don’t ask me how, it just does!
Shawn asks me each and every day, if I will marry him, no seriously. It melts my heart every time and puts a huge smile on my face. I tell him, if we are getting married, we need to celebrate. So we do! Whether it is a piece of cake or a glass of wine, there is always a party at the Nickel house.
This Valentine’s day we decided to do one of our favorite things. We are going to make dinner together, light a fire in the fire place, have a glass of wine, sit together on the couch, and talk for hours. I cannot wait!
Remember Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate all kinds of love. Let your loved one/s know that he/she is loved.

Please allow me to introduce you to Allison Prenger, editor and creative mind behind The Style Pundit.
(thee) (stahyl) (puhn-dit): noun. One who is an expert and commentator on a quality of imagination, individuality and style.
Allison, based out of Atlanta, has held nearly every position in the fashion industry. She has worked in New York for powerhouses such as Tory Burch and Giorgio Armani, but has also helped start up widely followed blogs- VenzEdits and Sweet Lemon Mag. From PR, to marketing, to social media maven, this girl has done it all!
After years of styling women and men, helping others start their blogs, and perfecting her own personal style, Allison decided to launch her personal style blog in December of 2011. Her visions are simple and clean, but always have a playful edge or something unexpected.
Her fashion rules are as follows:
1. Never wear anything once.
2. Just because it is in the magazines doesn’t mean that you should wear it.
3. Fit can make or break a look.
4. Staples build a closet, and trendy additions are enhancers and the proverbial cherry on top.
5. Never dress for anyone but yourself.
6. The older the better.
7. Frequently “steal” pieces from your boyfriend’s closet.
8. Do not take getting dressed too seriously.
9. Style comes in all forms, shapes, sizes, and backgrounds.
10. Develop your own style.
Allison wanted her first shoot with me to be based around her top trends to keep for 2012. From leopard, to bright colors, to menswear inspired items- Allison has it covered.
That being said, Allison’s purpose for this series of looks, (over the next few weeks) are to build your wardrobe, while staying trendy, frugal, fashion forward, and unique.
