The month of May is all about moms! In tribute to you hard working mamas, here are 5 things I know to be true for you:

1. 24 hour days go too quickly.
2. 7 day weeks are too short.
3. Moms develop a special ability to use spare seconds that no one else knows exist. Because of this they get showers and breakfast.
4. The last few minutes of the day when the table is cleared off and the living room floor is picked up are the best minutes of the day
5. Unless people have small children or they’re the president of the USA, they probably shouldn’t be complaining about the difficulty level of their jobs!

Motherhood is hard. That’s a given. But isn’t it even more exhausting to reach the point where you hardly remember what it’s like to be sexy and beautiful? Sometimes motherhood can make a woman feel alluring, and to those women, I lift my glass. To the rest of you moms who feel a little dragged out and tired and need a reminder of your glamorous appeal, give me a call this month.

Karen Nickel Photography is offering 15% off  “Moms to Models” photo shoots in the month of May.

“Moms to Models” is a photo shoot where all you busy moms take the time to get a photo shoot just of you and just for you! Dress up, get a babysitter and come to Karen Nickel Photography where I will take photographs of you by yourself looking gorgeous.

Afterwards you’ll have memories of an afternoon of pampering yourself and the photographic proof that it happened. I would recommend hanging these photographs in your kitchen so when you’re cleaning off the table for the 400th time of the day, you can look at the picture and think “Ahhhh, yes! I am amazing!”

You are woman. Hear you roar.

Call me for a “Moms to Models” photo shoot today.

PS: Husbands, this is a great Mother’s Day gift for your wife! Just sayin’… :)

Here’s more of Raina Bass…our Facebook contest winner! Raina is so much fun to be around and has such a great spirit about her. Thank you Raina for making it a blast!

A huge thank you to Allison Prenger at The Style Pundit for doing an amazing job styling this shoot.

Lots of cool things are happening here at Karen Nickel Photography! I have decided to make some changes to my photography business, with the help of my husband Shawn, and I’m really excited about them. I’m doing some refining and making some changes to  both my website and my blog,  so I wanted to let you know what to expect.

As far as the business side goes, I’ve become really passionate about certain photo sessions and I want to focus more on them. To be a little more specific, I am going to be concentrating on individuals and couples and doing some more work in the commercial magazine world.  I welcome models and fashion designers for portfolio photography, graduating senior for portraits, couples in love who want “Beloved” sessions, moms who want to be pampered in my “Moms to Models” sessions and business owners who want promotional pictures.

I’m also expanding my website and opening my blog to guest bloggers. Up until now, I’ve focused my blogging on my personal experience with my clients and what’s it’s like out there taking photos. I’ll still write those blogs! Don’t worry. But now you’ll also get a chance to hear a different perspective. What kind of perspective, you ask? Well, you should come back regularly to find out!

I’m going to make it habitual. That’s right, you heard me. I’ll be posting regularly from here on out! Well, I’m not perfect, but I am going to give it my all.

Mondays will be blogs about my photo sessions (starting next week) and Thursdays will be sneak peeks of  photos and things I’m working on. I’ve also been working on some exciting monthly deals, ways to celebrate the holidays, and special things to mark the year as it passes.

It’s gonna be a whole new world over here so make sure to come back on Thursday and see what we’ve got going on.

Watch out world, here I come!

Some of you have heard about our “Moms to Models” photo shoots. In case you haven’t, and you’re wondering… I’ll fill you in.

We take a mother, get her dressed up, do hair/make-up (if she wants) and then we take beautiful pictures of her. Pictures that make her model worthy.

I love it because mothers are some of the hardest working people I know. It’s a hard job to sacrifice everything you have in order to raise children. A mom gets up and immediately goes to work, changes diapers, cleans dirty faces, bathes, reads, plays, feeds kids… on top of cooking, cleaning and sometimes even working another job. And let’s face it… usually there isn’t any time left over for herself.

That is why I love my job. I take a mom and I give her a little piece of time for her to do nothing but feel beautiful and young again.
