Love, Laughter, and You

Three things that make my life complete
Are love, laughter, and you, my sweet
The laughter has lasted since day one
Loving you darling, has been so much fun

Whether it’s giggles at the kitchen table
Or all out laughter wherever we’re able
Each and every laugh, a symbol of our love
You’re my everything, all I ever dreamt of

Our love, now that’s a bit more serious
Shining through when our laughter is delirious
Starting the day with love’s tenderness
Saying goodnight with a sweet caress

Love, laughter, and of course you.
You bring into my life the other two
From the day we met, and for every single day
Love and laughter in our lives will stay

I recently had a Beloved session with Jason and Nikki. My husband and I have had the honor of getting to know both of them over the past year. These two have that magnetic connection you don’t see too often. You know, the kind that makes  singles want to be married. They were a blast to photograph! We took our time photographing in downtown Atlanta and finished off the evening with some tapas. Good times!

Here are a few quick guidelines to help you prepare for a couples Beloved Photo Session

How to mentally prepare – If you can, spend some time the night before thinking about the history of your relationship as a couple. Look  through old pictures, tell your favorite stories or ask friends or family for their memories. Maybe you could go to your favorite place and take some time together to get in the mood. All of these things will help jog your memory.

How to dress – Wear something comfortable and fun. Please don’t dress alike. Dress to reflect your individual personalities.

Photo Session Location – Think about a location that reflects your history as a couple. Is there a particular place that you love to go such as a restaurant, a park, a café or a store? If nothing specific comes to mind, do you want a rustic location? Something simple? How about a historic site? Or perhaps an urban environment.

Practical things to bring – Bring a blanket so you can sit on the ground. Women, bring face powder and men bring a towel to mop up sweat. Georgia is hot in the summertime…

Fun things to bring: Consider bringing personal items that show your interests and hobbies. These items can include newspapers, books, wine or checkers but can also include scuba diving equipment, bicycles or a karaoke machine. If it means something to you and you can get it to the shoot, Karen will figure out a way to photograph it! If there’s something that you love but you don’t own it, consider renting it at a place like 4 Inch Fold.

Come Relaxed and Happy –bring wine or champagne to help take the edge off. Do you have a favorite song that makes you happy? Bring an ipod and speakers to listen to it while Karen’s photographing you.

This Beloved photo session is going to be a really unique 2 hour date spent with your sweetheart. You’ll have photographs to document it and the more open minded you are and the more you invest, the better the photos will be.

With the Beloved’s water of life, no illness remains
In the Beloved’s rose garden of union, no thorn remains.
They say there is a window from one heart to another
How can there be a window where no wall remains?
- Rumi
Jason and Nikki, I feel honored that you trusted me to document the love you have for each other. It is truly a blessing to have you both in my life.

What we behold is censured by our eyes.

Who ever loved, that loved not at first sight?

Why is the official Month of Love one of the coldest months of the year? Is it the snow, rain and low temperatures that make love and intimacy seem so much more important?  I personally think it’s because everyone needs someone to cuddle when it’s 30 degrees outside!

For some of our readers, having an official Love holiday like Valentine’s Day is just another opportunity to acknowledge the one that you love. In that case, Karen Nickel Photography’s February special is custom made just for you.

However, some of you might feel stressed and pressured by Valentine’s Day, like you “have” to celebrate, which is no fun because nobody needs more obligations or to feel that they’re getting an obligation gift.

But fortunately, Karen Nickel Photography can help you out no matter how you feel. Aren’t ya’ll the lucky ones?

Karen would like to offer everyone 20% off her Beloved couples photo session in February. A Beloved photo session is a chance for couples to reconnect. It’s a photography session that focuses on where a couple’s come from, the relationship they’ve developed and the depth of their feelings for each other.

Let’s be clear, a Beloved photo session is a great gift no matter what month it is; but it’s an especially great gift when it’s cold and snowy outside and you want to reconnect with your sweetheart. Release yourself from the chains of a national holiday and do something for the one you love simply because you love them.

That’s the only reason that really matters.

Lots of cool things are happening here at Karen Nickel Photography! I have decided to make some changes to my photography business, with the help of my husband Shawn, and I’m really excited about them. I’m doing some refining and making some changes to  both my website and my blog,  so I wanted to let you know what to expect.

As far as the business side goes, I’ve become really passionate about certain photo sessions and I want to focus more on them. To be a little more specific, I am going to be concentrating on individuals and couples and doing some more work in the commercial magazine world.  I welcome models and fashion designers for portfolio photography, graduating senior for portraits, couples in love who want “Beloved” sessions, moms who want to be pampered in my “Moms to Models” sessions and business owners who want promotional pictures.

I’m also expanding my website and opening my blog to guest bloggers. Up until now, I’ve focused my blogging on my personal experience with my clients and what’s it’s like out there taking photos. I’ll still write those blogs! Don’t worry. But now you’ll also get a chance to hear a different perspective. What kind of perspective, you ask? Well, you should come back regularly to find out!

I’m going to make it habitual. That’s right, you heard me. I’ll be posting regularly from here on out! Well, I’m not perfect, but I am going to give it my all.

Mondays will be blogs about my photo sessions (starting next week) and Thursdays will be sneak peeks of  photos and things I’m working on. I’ve also been working on some exciting monthly deals, ways to celebrate the holidays, and special things to mark the year as it passes.

It’s gonna be a whole new world over here so make sure to come back on Thursday and see what we’ve got going on.

Watch out world, here I come!

Timeless wonder is a beautiful thing. In life you never know where it will take you. As the pictures unfold you will be able to see the passion, drive and the feeling that these two have for one another.

They fell in love many years ago and found each other again. Like a train on a track their love and faith brought them back together. They see their relationship as a full circle….starting with love and finding themselves falling in love all over again. Strength, determination and the belief that all things are possible is what you see in these two.

Time has a way of changing things. Through the pictures, a story unfolds.

The love story of Rodney and Amy. You never know where life will take you or how time can change the present to the past. When one door closes, another one will open. The circle is complete and made full.

Thank you Rodney and Amy for being so transparent and  sharing your beautiful love story with me.
